NC Arbor Day at Randolph Mall

800 trees will be given away at Asheboro’s Randolph Mall in celebration of North Carolina Arbor Day. The free community event is set for the afternoon of Friday, March 19 at the mall’s Center Court, and will include activities for the entire family.

“I am excited about this year’s Arbor Day Celebration – we always have a good time,” said Bob McCrory of TREES NC.

The event is the result of collaboration between several local organizations, including TREES NC, the City of Asheboro, NC Master Gardeners, the Courier-Tribune, NC Cooperative Extension, WKXR 1260 AM, Chick-Fil-A, Books-A-Million and Randolph Mall.

Activities will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a tree give away and information booths. TREES NC’s very own mascot, “Treeture, Professor Arbor E. Tum will be on hand for photos with children. At 6 PM, the winners of the Courier-Tribune Arbor Day Coloring Contest will be announced.

For adults, a panel of experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions ranging from lawn care, how to grow roses, and the proper method for trimming trees.
