Eagle Scout Supports Trees NC's Historic Site Program

Five years ago, Trees NC began a challenging project to restore and re-purpose one of our region’s most historically significant landmarks, the 1839 Asheboro Female Academy. Our vision was to transform an abandoned 180-year old cultural site to become a living-learning historic classroom and park, accessible to students and citizens from across Randolph County and beyond. Last year, Preservation North Carolina awarded Trees NC the prestigious Gertrude Carraway Honor Award for our historically accurate renovation of the 1839 Academy.

Restoring the Academy and developing a park and restrooms for visitors has been a labor of love, with help from a multitude of folks along the way.

One of these is Carter Moore, who recently built and installed three picnic tables for the 1839 Asheboro Female Academy park. Thank you Carter! And, congratulations on becoming an Eagle Scout!
