A Passionate Citizen Risks All to Save a Great Tree

I seldom answer calls to my landline - with all

those annoying marketing calls these days.

But, something told me to answer that ring, and I am glad that I did.

It was from an Asheboro citizen near panic over the eminent destruction of a very great tree in his neighborhood.

An out of town development company had purchased one of the last green spaces in the city, and laid out a plan for 24 new houses. A giant skid steer was parked in front of one of the greatest oaks that remains standing in these parts. The citizen had read about Trees NC and called my number.

For now, the tree remains standing and the houses are under construction. I am grateful for that telephone call from an amazing individual that wishes to remain anonymous.
