Saturday’s Arbor Day Celebration Includes 500 Tree Give Away

Trees NC will give away 500 Scotch Pine seedlings to observe NC Arbor Day 2019. The giveaway will be held Saturday, March 16th at Asheboro’s Bicentennial Park.

Arbor Day promises both fun and educational opportunities for the entire family, and will include kids activities and educational tables from local environmental organizations.   This year’s event  will take place in coordination with the 4th Annual Downtown Asheboro St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.

“Combining Arbor Day with St. Patrick’s Day has proven to be a great way to reach out to folks from across the region,” said Trees NC board member Owen George.  “Taking home a Scotch Pine to grow in your yard is a special treat. “ he said.

The tree give-away will begin Saturday at 2 PM, kicking off the Arbor Day Celebration.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Trees NC, Randolph Electric Membership Corporation, the Asheboro High School Future Farmers of America Chapter, Keep Randolph County Beautiful, UNITE Club at Charles W. McCrary Elementary School, Four Saints Brewing Company and The Courier-Tribune.
